J. Kesin is a contemporary German artist. J. Kesin's artistic journey is a captivating odyssey through the corridors of his singular perception of the world. His body of work is a mesmerizing kaleidoscope, where a rich tapestry of subjects comes to life through his adept use of color, form, and texture on the canvas.
Kesin's artistic palette is broad and diverse, encompassing everything from deeply personal autobiographical reflections to thought-provoking sociocultural musings, and from abstract concepts to universal themes. What sets his art apart is his remarkable ability to deconstruct and reconstruct these subjects, creating an intricate interplay of visual elements that engage and enthrall the viewer.

De Souza Gallery is delighted to present “Layered Perceptions”, a solo exhibition and online presentation of paintings by J. Kesín.
The exhibition will focus on the artist's latest series of works titled ‘Stripes’ and ‘Horizons’, both produced during 2020/21, however, a few of his earlier works will also be on show.
The current works are an attempt to depict by means of the application of a variety of layers, the artist’s perception of subjects from such different fields as current affairs, personal experiences, literature or concepts.
Each layer may have its own meaning and represent a certain part of the subject, whether concrete or perceived, thus incorporating a constructed quality into the works.
Yet the symbiosis of a somewhat analytical approach with spontaneous decisions towards the application/ removal or covering up of paint, strikes a satisfying balance in the finished works.
