Cardozo makes work tinged with the history and nostalgia of the many lives lived across the globe, recounting the hues and geometry of cities through visual symbols. Colors, textures, and shapes that adorn the world have always fascinated the artist, using them in her abstract compositions to explore deep emotional states and distant memories. Layers of pattern and texture make up her artistic language; always with a reverence for the illuminating sun.
Having been inspired by the likes of Agnes Martin, Brice Marden, Gordon Matta-Clark, Ralph Humphrey, and Walter de Maria, the work she makes echoes a close proximity to his period of artists.
