Detlef Lemme glaubt an die Macht der Bilder, die, von Menschen gemacht, das Sein widerspiegeln und, bei der Handlung, das Selbst, den Raum und die Zeit aufheben können. Sein Weg führte ihn nach der Kunstakademie zunächst zur künstlerischen Arbeit mit Computer und Stiftplotter (1994), dann zur 3D-Animation in den Bereichen Multimedia, Trickfilm und Industriedesign. Stolz ist er auf seine Mitwirkung bei Trickfilmproduktionen wie “Werner – Gekotzt wird später” und “Karlsson vom Dach”. 2015 nahm Lemme die eigene Kunstproduktion wieder auf. Seine Eindrücke aus der Visualisierung von Automobilen bei VW und Audi (2006 – 2009) verarbeitete er mit der Herstellung von 400 subjektiven “Auto/Selbster”- Aquarellen. 2017 beteiligte er sich mit seiner Aquarellserie “Laying Wall of Trust” provokativ am Wettbewerb zum Mauerbau der USA von Donald Trump. Detlef Lemme zeichnet, malt und druckt auf Papier, Holz und Leinwand.
