I suoi disegni e dipinti, spesso esposti in gallerie e fiere d'arte, tentano di catturare l'essenza dell'uomo che è diventato, senza concessioni o falsa modestia.
Hugo Bartoli cerca di ampliare la visibilità del suo lavoro multiplo e proteiforme, che riflette il suo misticismo e il suo interesse per il linguaggio del corpo maschile. Le sue creazioni sono intrise di metafore e simboli, avvicinandosi al corpo in modi a volte crudi, a volte sottili. Il suo processo creativo è caratterizzato dall'assenza di una previa intellettualizzazione, lasciando spesso emergere nel tempo il significato delle sue opere.
