Kay always wanted to be an artist ever since early childhood. During middle school, Kay entered her 1st art contest and got 2nd place for her drawing. Kay is a self taught artist - practicing from art course books, studying artist techniques, and generally living at the library. Her work is inspired by the flora, fauna, mountains, characters and vistas of where she lives.
Her life has been filled with dance - any kind but specifically drawn to belly dancing, weekly music - in and around town and in her time in Austin, raising children - never ends, and playing in the great rocky mountains - hiking all the time, x-country skiing when she can and sketching the splendor that is.
Kay taught fine art and drawing to middle and high school students at Cornerstone school in Austin, Texas. She also attended life drawing and watercolor classes at different colleges in Texas and Colorado. She has received recognition for her acrylics and watercolors in Northern Colorado from the Northern Colorado Artists Association.
Kay started her art career by creating fabrics (mural batiks), etchings and limited edition wildlife drawings which were popular in and around Austin. She moved on to watercolors, acrylics and oils and has been refining her technique over the years.
She currently works out of her home studio in Fort Collins, Colorado, a bright and sunny upstairs room. Glad to be here.
