ANDRE DLUHOS born 1940 in Slovakia, studied in Slovakia, Czech Republic, and independent studies in Egypt. Andre began painting at an early age and quickly found recognition in his homeland's region winning numerous awards and art competitions. In what was Czechoslovakia in that era, Andre worked independently and collectively on large scale mural and mosaic commission work. In 1969, after the Prague Spring, he and his wife and son made the decision to relocate, making the United States their current home.
YARY DLUHOS born 1944 in the Czech Republic, studied in her native homeland. Even at the age of 5, she was drawing and sketching the beauty she saw around her. Gaining recognition as a beautiful illustrator and being commissioned for portraiture allowed her to express her creativity independent from her commercial and graphic design work. In 1969 with her husband Andre, and young son, she made the move to the United States where the family of artists now reside.
Abbiamo avuto un vero spavento nelle ultime due settimane mentre Andre è stato portato d'urgenza al pronto soccorso con fibrillazione atriale acuta. Quasi un'intera settimana in ospedale è stata trascorsa cercando di stabilizzare e controllare un battito cardiaco irregolare che ha abbassato la sua pressione sanguigna e infine il suo polso a un livello in cui lo abbiamo quasi perso. Per fortuna, i suoi medici hanno continuato a somministrare vari farmaci fino a quando non sono state trovate le giuste combinazioni e dosaggi necessari per stabilizzare il suo cuore indebolito. Una storia di episodi cardiaci negli ultimi 14 anni ha già lasciato le loro cicatrici nel suo cuore. Fragile, sì ... indebolito, sì ... ma la sua volontà di continuare a combattere non è mai diminuita. Lunedì scorso, i medici hanno eseguito una procedura di cardioversione e, con grande stupore di tutti, il cuore è tornato a un ritmo sinusale normale con una sola scarica del defibrillatore. Andre continua la sua guarigione e, speriamo che presto torni al suo amato cavalletto in studio.
