The “Panorama” series is inspired by satellite images of earth as well as microscopy. By nature, both types of imagery are meant to be objective, impersonal, and emotionless – scientific tools rather than subjective expression. From these cold and impersonal images, I read the visual vocabulary within them, teasing out an inadvertent poetry. Using painting and movement, I reimagine and reinterpret this imagery by removing the data, labels, and scale, deconstructing them into shapes and forms, and in the process, constructing a new narrative.
