"My collages and paitings are inspired by the alphabet, probably man's greatest intellectual achievement. In an age like ours, not given to letter writing, we intend to forget the important part it used to play in our lives. By removing words & letters from their normal environment & taking away their verbal significance they become an integral part of the composition". Hillel build on past experience, he attempts to eradicate previous habits of seeing and thinking. He keeps searching for what is visually new to his, while always hoping that a fusion of form and content will take place. His collages and painting is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use letters, shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect. The works are seen as carrying a moral dimension, in that it can be seen to stand for virtues such as order, purity and simplicity. Hillel lives and works in Israel.
