Murray William Cole Ince

Murray was born in Newport, Isle of Wight in 1957, he became a furniture maker and gradually moved into designing so was always drawing and painting. He took up painting seriously, though not full time in the early 1990’s, in 1996 decided to do an A level Art and Design at the local college to get a taste of structured art learning and in 1997 did a teaching qualification. Murray loves to teach people to draw and paint and has tutored classes at the Isle of Wight College also taking students for private tuition in his home studio, he demonstrates for art groups, currently tutoring ‘The 5 Bells’ and ‘John Finch Art Groups’ on the Island.  Murray also runs painting and drawing holidays in Britain, France and Italy working both privately and for the well-known ‘ALPHA’ holidays.  

Murray’s first love is landscape painting, mostly in Winsor and Newton’s ‘Artisan’ water-mixable oils and has written a book titled ‘Landscape Painting In ‘Artisan’ Water-Mixable Oils’. He is a featured artist and product ambassador for Winsor and Newton and regularly writes ‘How To’ paint articles for ‘Leisure Painter’ and the SAA’s ‘Paint’ magazines.  Murray is the founder member of the ‘Society of painters in Water-Mixable Oils’
