Sophia Shanti grew up by the Baltic-Sea in Kiel, Germany. As a young teen, she joined her mother in Washington D.C, where she lived and studied until her early 20's. On the east coast, she pursued art in both personal and college environments, allowing her to explore different mediums and inspirations. Through friends and relatives, Sophia was exposed to Native American traditions and folklore. She pursued shamanism on a personal level as well as integrating dreamwork into her artistic processes. Her art has been deeply influenced by symbolic messages shown in dreams, and mythological stories of native and ancient cultures. Emotions also greatly impact her work through deeper introspection and meditating on them. She has found that they are a key part in the creative process when allowed to unfold.
