Jacqueline Nalett
Jacqueline has been involved with art since the age of 12 with basic art classes and personal drawing, then seriously pursuing painting, drawing and sculpture since high school, minoring in studio art at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She discovered dance in college and so her BA is in Dance and she teaches jazz, modern and hiphop dance as well as creative movement at the University of Houston and Rice University. She is also a choreographer, writer, beaded jewelry maker and mother of a teenager. She is half-French, half-American, originally from the Washington D.C. area, but has spent most of her life in Texas. Dance has been her primary focus over the last few years and she is now trying to bring her first love of art back into her life in a big way.
Her primary loves are clay sculpting, drawing/sketching with simple ink pens and pencils, and painting with oil and acrylics. She tried printmaking in college and didn't like it because there were too many steps involved in achieving a final product. She enjoys using oil pastels for an occasional project, making sculptures out of found objects, and making collages of all sorts. She makes all sorts of beaded jewelry and is a lover of beaded earrings which she wears all the time. She introduced art to her daughter at a young age and her now 14 year old daughter draws all the time and is becoming quite the comic book artist, her favorite character being Sonic the Hedgehog.

What's on my easel right now.
My swirly experiment with pink and gold tones..I never thought I'd use much pink paint but I'm kind of liking this....can't decide if it's done or not yet.
The 2011 Sketchbook Tour by Art House Co-op
It's like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks. Most of the drawings you will see here on my site are being included in my sketchbook to be sent off this week to the Brooklyn Art Library. This is my first time participating and I have to admit it was overwhelming at first to think of how to fill this little sketchbook, but it has become a interesting process of rediscovering my sketches and producing new ideas about my own art.
Below is information about the sketchbook tour 2011.
Check their website for complete details: projects/sketchbookproject
Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.
28835 artists from 94 countries around the world are participating. The tour starts February, 2011.
All books will be included in an exhibition that tours the following cities:
Brooklyn, NY Austin, TX San Francisco, CA Portland, ME Atlanta, GA Chicago, IL Washington, DC Winter Park, FL
Our Exhibitions are Interactive.
The goal of the Project is to get blank sketchbooks into the artists' hands and then completed sketchbooks into the world for viewers to enjoy. We've taken the Project to task four times before, and our fifth go-around has some awesome improvements. We know where your book is at all times, and we're collecting statistics on who's looking at what - and where. We want you to feel connected to your book and the Project as it travels around the country.
