Janel Bragg a grandi en Floride, dans l'État de Washington et en Alaska, où ses parents ont modelé et encouragé la créativité. Étudiant l'anglais et l'art en studio tout au long de ses études universitaires, Janel continue de se concentrer sur la composition, la théorie des couleurs, le dessin de figures et l'histoire de l'art dans sa propre pratique artistique. Utilisant principalement de l’aquarelle et de la peinture à la caséine, le processus de Bragg consiste à travailler rapidement et spontanément à partir de sa propre photographie et de son imagination, ajoutant ainsi de la vie et du mouvement à ses peintures. Elle dit que quatorze années d'expérimentation seule lui ont appris le plus et que les encouragements d'un mentor – qui la réconforte depuis la mort de son père – lui ont donné la motivation pour produire de nombreuses peintures. Son travail a été exposé dans des galeries de l'État de Washington, de New York et de Pennsylvanie, notamment lors du jury de la 76e exposition internationale ouverte annuelle de la Northwest Watercolour Society. Elle travaille actuellement pour deux éditeurs d'art, Image Conscious et Art in Motion, tous deux situés à San Francisco.

They have offices in London, Paris, New York, Berlin and Bologna, and I have been working with their London office! They have 40,000 clients including Sotheby's, Christie's, BBC, Netflix, Random House, BMW, Gucci, Conde Nast, The Economist, The Guardian, Reuter's and many of the world's largest museums and galleries! They manage the estates of Grandma Moses and Lucian Freud and some of The Young British Artists. My painting, Man Walking his Dog in Indigo, has been reproduced and hangs in the (78) one and two-bedroom apartment suites, terrace suites, and penthouse suites of the Shelburne Hotel and Suites by Affina, in Manhattan, New York City. The rooms have views of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and are within walking-distance to Grand Central Station, Times Square, and many other of the most visited attractions in the city.
