I have known Ivonne Chia for a long time, more than thirty years, and before that I already knew her silent work, full of spaces that become giants, places that give way to the interpretation of permanent changes. Visions accumulated in a memory that addresses all directions and makes one suspect that there is always more.
She does not draw on the matrix, she meets the wooden plank sliding on it from the accumulated perception of the day. She does not draw on the metal plate, she transforms the matrix from the deepest memory lodged in some part of her person. She does not title her works, she likes the observer to play at discovering and creating.
To write this review I asked her for a short text in which she named relevant elements of her work! She sent me this, maybe all of the above should be deleted:
"A long time ago a phrase came to my head and I wrote it on a paper here in Iquique and I found it by chance in the middle of a pandemic and confinement: Without saying anything I express everything"
