Finding faces in the marks I put on paper has been a source of endless satisfaction for me. Like a nervous habit, I would draw pictures as obsessively and regularly as people check their phones. I’d do it on busses, in social situations and when I was alone. The most interesting thing anyone has ever said about these drawings came from a 7 years old. After much contemplation, she turned to me and said "It looks like you just scribbled on her face". She was alluding to the idea that if took the pen marks off the paper, there would be a real face beneath it. Kids are profound!

Biografie
Fleur Elise Noble is een hedendaagse bekroonde Australische kunstenaar. Ze werkt met de mediums tekenen, schilderen, beeldhouwkunst, poppenspel, kostuum, decorontwerp, animatie, film, projectiemapping, performance en dans om kunstwerken, animatiefilms en visuele performances te creëren.
Fleur heeft een achtergrond in beeldende kunst, fysiek theater en community arts. Ze studeerde met volledige beurzen aan kunstacademies in Adelaide (Adelaide Central School of Art) en New York (New York Studio School). In 2008 liep ze regie-stagiair bij Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, waarna ze optrad in een aantal dans/fysische theaterproducties. Fleur heeft vele beurzen en onderscheidingen ontvangen voor haar werk.
Fleur's meest bekende werk tot nu toe is haar visuele theatervoorstelling '2-Dimensional Life of Her', een werk gemaakt van tekenen, animatie, poppenspel, projectie en papier, dat ideeën rond het creëren verkende. 2-D Life of Her werd uitgenodigd om op te treden op meer dan 40 podia en festivals over de hele wereld, waaronder; Het London Mime-festival in 2012 in The Barbican, het 2013 Under The Radar Festival in The Public Theatre in New York, maar ook in LA, Brazilië, Iran, Zuid-Korea en uitgebreid in heel Europa, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland. In 2011 werd 2D Life of Her geselecteerd om Australië te vertegenwoordigen op het World Congress of Theatre for Young People in Denemarken en Zweden, en in 2013 ontving ze een prestigieuze Bessie (New York Dance and Theatre Award) voor de meeste Outstanding Visual Design.
ROOMAN is de tweede grote productie van Fleur, en net als haar eerste, werden het verhaal en het fysieke materiaal dat ze gebruikt om het te vertellen in ongeveer 7 jaar ontwikkeld en verfijnd. ROOMAN is een rijk wandtapijt van poppenspel, projectie, tekenen, dans en geluidsinstallatie. Als een low-tech hologram of een high-fi papieren pop-upboek, neemt ROOMAN het publiek mee op een reis door werelden van geanimeerde universums terwijl ze zich ontvouwen op een gigantische driedimensionale papieren set. ROOMAN ging in 2017 in première in ARTS HOUSE in Melbourne voordat hij op tournee ging in Slovenië, Nederland en Nieuw-Zeeland.
Fleur heeft sinds 2012 ook als workshopleider en mediaproducent gewerkt aan de Digital Storytelling Workshops van de SharingStories Foundation, waarbij ze teken-, animatie-, film- en projectieprojecten faciliteerde met ouderen en jongeren in afgelegen inheemse gemeenschappen in heel Australië.

Tijdens het maken van deze shows maakte Fleur duizenden tekeningen, poppen en sculpturen. Tijdens en tussen het toeren door bleef ze tekenen, schilderen en beeldhouwen. Hoewel ze nog steeds reist met haar optredens, ligt haar huidige focus op het verbinden met jonge mensen en het onderzoeken hoe creatieve praktijken een positief effect kunnen hebben op psychische problemen.

Based on interviews with people aged between 8-102, Creation Creation is a documentary/comedy about life’s biggest mysteries.
How did we get here? How did the world begin? Are aliens real?
Two fearless creators and performers will step onto the stage and attempt to unravel the mysteries of the universe improvising with whatever tools they have at their disposal alongside a soundtrack created from 35 hours of recorded interviews and a vivid, highly original soundscape. Blankets become forts, cardboard boxes become battleships and ping pong balls become planets in this hilarious explosion of art, sculpture, physical theatre and puppetry.
A daring and audacious journey to the very edge of the universe and back again. It’s a wild theatrical experiment for the curious among us.
Some of the big questions tackled during this show, raised and then answered by the general public children and adults we interviewed, include; ‘how did the world begin?’, ’is there other life in the universe?’, ‘how are babies made?’, ‘what does dying feel like?’, and ‘what will life on earth be like in 1,000 years?’. These questions and answers are played out by our performers in gentle, moving and fun ways. Viewer discretion is advised, viewer curiosity is recommended.

A note for audiences
As part of developing Creation Creation, over 50 people were asked ‘what big mystery would you like an answer to?’, with answers sourced from both experts and the general public. The performance tackles some big questions, including ‘how did the world begin?’, ‘is there other life in the universe?’, ‘how are babies made?’, ‘what does dying feel like?’, and ‘what will life on earth be like in 1000 years?’. Each question and answer is played out by the performers in a gentle, moving and fun way. Viewer discretion is advised, viewer curiosity is recommended.

The Pocket Sanctuary: Arts, Health and Food Farm is a magical wonderland tucked away in Forest Range, a beautiful pocket of the Adelaide Hills (in South Australia). It is a place for creativity and rejuvenation. When we first visited this 27 acre property, we fell in love. With the luscious valley of tree ferns and weeping willows. The abundant orchard and veggie garden (bright green in the middle of summer). The majestic spring fed lake surrounded by native bush and adorned in lotus flowers. And the mountain of yellow leaves and spectacular views. So many pockets of splendour! It's a place for dreaming, and for creation. We will be holding many events, workshops, artists residencies and gatherings over the coming years. We look forward to sharing this space with you ❤️
Who are The People in The Pocket? Incase you were wondering... We are a family of Professional 2 year olds. Daniel Fels climbs trees for a living (he's an arborist). He is also a geologist, but he's more of a monkey than a miner. He loves his work and also loves to dance. Daniel met Fleur on a dance floor. Fleur Elise Noble is a drawer, painter, sculptor, puppet-maker, performer, animator and maker of visual theatre performances. She also facilitates creative workshops for young people. The third person in The Pocket, is Mahlia- Fleur and Daniel's most treasured creation. She too loves dancing, climbing trees and painting pictures.
