Née en Grèce, élevée à Paris, puis ayant vécu plusieurs années à New York, Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos vit actuellement entre Paris et Le Caire. Après un master à l'ESSEC, elle interrompt sa carrière pour se consacrer à l'art, dans une approche existentielle questionnant son identité.
Son oeuvre questionne ainsi la définition et la construction de l'identité, de la mémoire personnelle et des histoires collectives à l'ère post-Internet. Elle se situe elle même comme interprète/transmetteur, créant des liens entre le passé et le présent, le réel et le virtuel et finalement entre l'un et l'autre.
