Tree of life. I am fascinated by strong roots and the majestic appearance of old trees. Maybe it’s because trees grow in a certain place over a long period of time … while the world around them is constantly changing. However, I was particularly inspired by the elegant shapes of the Ficus Macrophylla. Several trees of this type grow in a small park in the beautiful city center of Valencia in Spain.

I made some sketches in this magical place and and enjoyed the relaxing ambience in the shade of the trees. Based on these sketches, I created a series of five ink drawings. It is a complex network of thin lines that shows the intertwined shapes of the roots. But also the idea of the flowing vitality inside the trees is part of the design.

Light and shadow. Black and white. The strong roots of an old tree are firmly connected to the ground. In my eyes, tree roots are symbols for strength, persistence, the subconscious and the cycle of life.

It is also a representation on a surface of the shape (and possibly the light and shadow values) of an object or figure, rather than their color. There are a large number of drawing techniques: “Linear drawing” represents objects by their outlines, edges and some characteristic lines; beyond this limit, the drawing develops by representing the volume by shadows, often by means of hatching, incorporates colors, and joins, without clear transition, the painting.

Trees and their strong roots, mountain landscapes, the Mediterranean Sea and abstract reflections are among my favorite topics. I would like to share my impressions with you and bring the enchantment of nature into your home.

My creative activities are dedicated to nature photography in Alicante province (Spain) and Saxony (Germany), as well as drawing and watercolour painting. Long hikes in the mountains, through forests and along the Mediterranean coast inspire me a lot. When I am out in nature and let my gaze wander over the vast landscape, the clocks seem to tick a little slower. For this reason, thoughts about time and change also influence my work.

There is so much beauty around us every day. It depends on us whether we see it. In my opinion, drawing and photography are wonderful ways to capture impressions and the magic of the moment. With my pictures and the stories surrounding them, I would like to inspire and motivate people to spend more time in nature and to experience it consciously with all their senses.

I was born in Germany. A few years ago I decided to emigrate to Spain. With the selection of photos and graphics shown here, I would like to express both my love for nature and my passion for photography and art. I am currently living on the Costa Blanca, where I´m surrounded by a beautiful coastal scenery, impressive rock formations and bright sunlight.
