In a world where fantasy intertwines with reality, the creations of Viсtor Molev come to life, forcing us to rethink the boundaries of the possible. His painting of a dwarf sailor, or pirate, who has captured a red-haired mermaid is a prime example of his unique style. The dwarf, proudly carrying his prey on his back, runs through a meadow dotted with tall grass, like a green sea. The mermaid is slightly discouraged, because her world of water and freedom is left behind.
Where is the dwarf taking her and what is he up to? This remains a great secret that Molev can only reveal in his next creations. Perhaps the dwarf seeks to prove his courage to other pirates or wants to exchange the mermaid for treasure. Or maybe he just wants to show the world something incredible that will change him forever. We will not discuss other options - let the secret remain a secret.
This picture is an invitation to a world where fantasy becomes part of our reality, and each character carries deep meaning and history. Molev masterfully plays with our expectations and ideas about mythical creatures, offering us a new perspective on old tales.

Victor Molev is a contemporary award-winning Canadian artist. He is working in the styles of Decorative Realism, Fantasy, Symbolism and Surrealism. In the mid-1970s, as an aspiring young artist, he took drawing and painting lessons under the apprenticeship of Moscow sculptor Tatyana Vishnyakova. But it wasn’t until his early twenties that Molev became familiar with the works of Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, M.C. Escher and Frank Frazetta through books and magazines. Molev was incredibly inspired by these artists which became like mentors to him.
After receiving an education in architecture, the artist worked in the field for ten years. He then worked as a set designer at the Pushkin Opera and Ballet Theater. Both of these jobs are still reflected in the creative processes of the artist. He has created his own unique and intuitive world of dreams and absurdity. His works are sincerely naive and kind.
Victor Molev was born in 1955, in Gorky, Russia. His works were exhibited all over the world, including the Art Museum of Saint-Frajou, France. Molev has also participated in numerous international competitions of humorous drawing, and won numerous silver and bronze medals.
