I experimented with adding some fabric to generate texture, at the same time the orange fabric is a colored main stain in the composition. I felt that there is a lot of activity in some points, lot of life, and things happening, inside a passive space that is quiet and silence

Bio

Valeria Terán was Born and raised in Mérida Venezuela (1990)

She studied at the Universidad de los Andes, at the Faculty of Visual Arts and Graphic Design (2011)

She worked in Julián Villafañe's atelier, where she had the opportunity to experience the dynamics of an atelier workflow and the cultivation of the painting craft, as well as the first direct influence that Valeria received in her artwork; After this kind of internship with Villafañe, she dropped out of art school and decided to pursue her studies on her own.

She became interested in Artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell because of the chromatic and gestural strength of their artworks; In addition to abstract expressionism, Valeria Terán's work is influenced by her own practice and spiritual vision, making use of her psychological processes, impressions from the unconscious and dreams -inexhaustible source of imaginative and sensitive resources- to create; where expression, intuition, movement and color are key in her abstract compositions.

Statement

My creative process is spontaneous, it connects me with the vitality of movement, the importance of attention and the sensations of color. - I am finding while I am doing -. For this, I usually use different ways to apply or partially remove the pigment and generate effects and textures. I investigate the expressive possibilities that the material offers me, pointing to the diversity and visual richness to evoke in the viewer a journey of interest through their own physical and metaphysical space-time.

Intuition, emotions, the unconscious. Through a flash of lucidity and truth, a universe of cells and fluids moves to activate a sensation on a physical level, in another time, in another space of what we are. My exploration with painting happens in the territory between the material of biology and the non-material of instantaneous certainty for no apparent reason. Constructing gestural spaces of color, ambiguous structures, looking for shapes that are constantly changing, that become entangled, that mix in dynamic compositions with the graphisms that alter them and give the images another reading.
