Vaclav Vaca was born in 1948, in Czechoslovakia (later the Chech Republic). From 1963 to 1968 he studied at the Prague Conservatory and began his artistic career as a ballet dancer and musician. After moving to Canada in 1969, he started painting full time in 1972 and began to exhibit widely in Canada and the United States.
He has received several commissions and awards through his work. Although largely self-taught, he has achieved a high degree of skill in depicting a world of fantasy and imagination in vibrant, glowing colours and dream-like abundance of detail. His intricate painting technique is based on classical themes, employing metaphorical symbols to express universal truth. He presently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario.
In 1982 he featured in a television documentary on CBC television entitled "Vaclav Vaca – Fantastic Visions". He now runs an interior design business.
