Terry Hart

Terry Hart was born a twin in the small Texas town of Waxahachie. The artist received his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1990 at the age of 38 and relocateded his studio to Merlino Art Center of Tacoma, Washington where he manufactured paintings and sculptures for more than 10 years. Hart now resides in Texas where he paints, sculpts and composes music. His "New Age" melodies may be listened to on .au and under the artist name of Scary Teri and the Homey Bones. Hart has won numerous awards for his paintings and his impact on the world of art.

STATEMENT ABOUT THE NATURE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE WORK
The major intent of my efforts in art for the last two to three decades has been to increase the public awareness and appreciation of new and different art forms. As an art advocate I have operated several contemporary art galleries since the late 70’s, taught art and manufactured art as a product. As an instructor of art, my modus operandi has been simply to instill the enjoyment of creating art forms in those that I come into contact with. As an artist, I have branched out into the production of 4-dimensional paintings and sculpture and recently have obsessed on multi-media presentation formats focusing on musical compositions, recorded and produced by my computer under the band name of Scary Teri and the Homey Bones.
The modern masters tremendously influence me, however I am mostly inspired by the artwork of children (an influence that I call virgin thought). I by no means imitate children’s art or exploit their art forms, I merely continue working methods that I have introduced to my students and observe activity that is excessive and erratically expressive. I believe that good art is art that makes one think. I do sincerely hope that my art forms are enjoyed by everyone, but realize that this may be a frivolous wish because art has meaning only to them that experience it.
