“Time” artworks series.
This series, by Tanya Vasilenko, is devoted to the very difficult to understand and philosophically inexhaustible phenomenon of time. The artwork fuses together the artist’s interpretation of time and her paradoxical use of techniques. Art, being in many respects the philosophical discipline that comprehends a person and their place in the flow of history, deals with the phenomenon of time constantly.

The basic periods in the history of human civilization - Ancient Egypt, the Renaissance, and the New Age - are taken as style reference points. Each of these periods has its own understanding of time and its values, and therefore formed a certain personality, a true hero of their time. Such a person leaves a unique trace in the history of time. This does not happen by accident.

Since the time of St. Augustine, theologians have interpreted time as the carrier of the moral principle. This "rediscovery of time" as it is articulated in terms of moral responsibility represents a significant paradigm shift in the culture of the postmodern world.

This combination of time and space has the figurative expression of the round dial of a watch (a medieval ingenious invention!) in which all moments of time are present - the former, the future and the circle itself, as a symbol of eternal return. The moments of time are synthesized as a temporal sequence; perceived as pictures or frames of being. The sequence of the flow of time is reconstructed into a movie-like vision, projected onto the screen of consciousness. The human consciousness assigns its own set of rules and conditions to time, and really to eternity itself.

Somehow, we all have our own interpretation and vision of time. The artist leaves the viewer with this statement: "What is our time and who are we? We are what happens to us here and now.”

The painting has a heavy paint texture on the surface (a raised surface).

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine on 11th May, 1977. I began my art training at an early age. I continued my professional education at Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Applied Art and Design.Today,I am also a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As an artist I set high goals for myself - I always aim to achieve the best result in everything I start. I also try to find something wonderful and miraculous in things that I see and convey my experience and emotions onto canvas. After years of classical training and experimenting with various techniques I have developed my own painting method called "volumetric painting". This technique gives an opportunity to create a 3D reality allowing a viewer to feel the paintings better and deeper. I have participated in group shows in Europe and in the United States, and I also have had solo shows in the U.S., Russia and Ukraine. My artworks are in private and museum collections in such countries as the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Kuwait, Russia, Ukraine and others. My paintings have been featured by Saatchi Art in multiple collections. The organizer of the festival “Talent Energy Fest”, the founder of the International Art Gallery ”Vasilenko Gallery” and the Art School of Painting and Drawing.
