I see a great deal of similarity between emotions and colours. Just like emotions, colours add a variety to my existence. Colours have a strong personality and each colour sparks a different emotion, the way they flow.
There is a resemblance between how emotions flow and how I try to explore the movement of colours in my works. Emotions are complex and I try to exhibit them in their state of complexity. I experiment with the fluidity of the colours and alter their viscosity to an extent that they start to flow and move with uncertainty.
My abstract pieces reflect on the beauty of uncertainty in life. As water moves and flows without any intention, I let the colours flow irrespective of what they form into, leading to beautiful patterns with root-like complex structures. The beauty of abstraction is that its interpretation is different to each individual. We interpret art in our own unique ways. I express my emotions through the flow of colours which is the root of my works.

Sumit Mehndiratta is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist from India. His works aren't restricted to one style or medium of work, they range from generic mediums such as canvas and paper to digital art, mixed media, wall sculptures and photography.

Describing his style the artist says that his main genre is nature and abstraction, which is prominent in most of the works. He loves abstraction and the fact that everyone perceives it differently, so it brings him pleasure to see how people relate to different shapes and colors, and interpret them differently.

His art is more about the excitement of how beautiful the strokes and patterns can emerge from experimentation. Sumit Mehndiratta strives to portray feelings of happiness, calmness, serenity, vibrancy and energy through his works that coalesce motifs, psychedelic patterns and elements of nature in a soothing color palette. On collecting Sumit Mehndiratta's artwork, you help him contribute 10% of his earnings to an Animal Welfare organization based in India called AnimalAidUnlimited who treat and shelter injured animals from the city.

Sumit Mehndiratta was born in 1986, in India. He has exhibited his works, both group and solo shows across the UK, UAE, Japan, Italy, China and India. He lives and works in Delhi.
