The Restart series is inspired by the common people in south east Asia, living and working together, sharing what they have, uniting in good times and bad. Nowhere was this better demonstrated than in the aftermath of the tsunami at the end of 2004. Whole communities were destroyed yet people worked together to rebuild their lives.
Restart is also about growing up. When we first begin to draw, as children, we draw very simple things in a somewhat abstract form. People, animals, trees and houses are all like matchsticks. Restart is like a child painting -- simple colors, simple forms, art as language.
