The Pokrovsky monastery in Suzdal is a small but magnificent Orthodox shrine, the snow-white walls of which rise on the gentle bank of the Kamenka River in the northern part of the city. The main buildings of the complex were laid more than 650 years ago, but until today, none of them has been preserved in its original form. For many centuries, the monastery served as a prison for women of noble families, forcibly tonsured by a nun. The difficult fate of the Pokrovsky monastery is inextricably linked with Russian history and is surrounded by legends.

Watercolor

Watercolor is a painting in which gum arabic binds transparent pigments revealing the support of the painting. The gouache, of identical composition, is opaque. A watercolor is a water-based painting on paper. We rarely speak of a painting for a work painted in watercolor. Watercolor paintings are considered to be a unique way to creatively represent dreams, illusions, emotions and luminous feelings using water soluble pigments. However, painting with watercolors can be difficult. It's a difficult medium to master, in large part because it can be ruthless and unpredictable. Mistakes are difficult to correct and its fluid nature makes it difficult to control. Yet it is these very qualities that give the medium its undeniable charm.

Lacquer

Paint made with a resin from tree sap, various shrubs or with lacquer paints based on thermosetting resins. The technique consists in superimposing layers of lacquers with a vigorous polishing between each layer. It is mostly smooth shiny, but can sometimes also be satin or very Matt.
