Amos ZELIKSON was born in Haifa, Israel, on January 9, 1930. As a teenager, he studied with Paul Konrad Hoenich, a painter of the Viennese Expressionist school. The latter will especially influence his oil technique, airy and luminous.
He was among the founders in 1949 of Kibbutz Yreon, in the Galilee, which he left to study civil engineering at the Technion in Haifa.
Having obtained a thesis scholarship at the École Polytechnique in 1962, he then frequented the artistic circles of Montparnasse, in particular the Grande Chaumière academy. He draws nudes, while painting the streets of Paris and the banks of the Seine.
Doctor of State in 1967, he pursued a career as a scientific researcher in the Solid Mechanics laboratory of the École Polytechnique, in Palaiseau, while continuing his artistic creation. He attended the Goetz-Daderian Academy and would eventually become a personal friend of Dikran Dadérian. The charming town of Palaiseau in the Chevreuse valley will offer him numerous landscape subjects.
Amos ZELIKSON has exhibited mainly at the Shai Danon Gallery in Tel Aviv, but also at the Municipal Gallery in Jerusalem. He also participated several times in the Art'Genève fair. From 1996, he collaborated with the Librairie Galerie Racine in Paris, illustrating books of poetry and enriching head prints. He is currently the permanent artist and is exhibited there.
A solitary artist, Amos ZELIKSON died on July 29, 2017, leaving behind a rich body of work, oils, pastels, watercolors, as well as pencil, charcoal and ink drawings. His paintings are part of the legacy of the Impressionists. His designs combine classic and modern inspirations.
