The title of this sculpture represents a common sentence used by a rural people of the North of Russia. It is just like "OK, let's go, alright" and so on. This sculpture represents a peasant woman in a traditional Russian dress. For many years most of the Russian women dressed this way. In a traditional "Root" consciousness o f Russians this closes reminds old fairy tales, ancient songs of a grand mother (Babushka), wooden log houses, huge white owens etc. It is a very warm and lovely image. There are many of variations of this closes. This one was taken from a photo by famous photographer Prokudin-Gorskii, a pioneer of a colour photography in Russia ( a picture was taken appr. in 1890). Now, because of hard 20-th century circumstances, his photo archive is in a Library of Congress in USA. Our roots is a history, traditions, songs and all of good things which we've inherited.
