Depuis 1976 il commenca à exposer ses peintures à l'huile ( paysages exclusivement marins réels ) et observant dans ses déplacements sur les plages multitudes d'éspeces de coquillages. A partir de 1978 il commença à créer des objets artisanaux de décoration avec des coquillages qui trouvent du succès. Aidé par les médias, il créa un propre style : des tableaux de mosaique en coquillages naturels puis des paysages peints en acrylique sur lequel il créa des paysages avec des coquillages, algues et divers objets naturels de la mer. Son style trouva un grand succès mondial et, il commença des tournées d'exposition dans le monde entier et à chaque fois il organise des ateliers ouverts aux publics pour initier ses spécialités ( 312 expositions dont 265 personnelle ). L'artiste agé de 63 ans a pratiquement son propre patrimoine : utilisation des coquillages naturels dans : les arts - sciences et artisanat : mosaique, paysage, sculpture, joaillerie, objets de décoration et aussi fabrication des bateaux maquette en bois. Le ministre de la culture a décidé de mettre une commission pour la candidature du patrimoine de Chérif habib au patrimoine non matériel auprès de l'unesco. L'artiste possède la plus grande collection mondiale de coquillage = 4 mille éspeces et 400 fossiles de coquillage. Bientot, un musée sera consacré à son patrimoine sur la plage d'HAMMAMET.
