BIOGRAPHY

Born in Réunion, Sandrine Langlade did her first painting course at the Jardin d’Eden at the age of 6. Since that day, she has continued to paint.

In 2004-2005, she spent a year in Brazil, where she exhibited her paintings for the first time at the MARGS café - Rio Grande do Sul Art Museum, in Porto Alegre. She is 21 years old, sells almost all her paintings and realizes that you can live from your art.

She then made 2 promises to herself: to finish her studies in Paris (where she obtained her double Master's degree at La Sorbonne and Sciences Po in 2008) and one day to make painting her profession.

In 2009 she began to exhibit in Paris and, one thing leading to another, participated in her first international exhibition in 2016 in Barcelona (Spain).

In 2018 in Italy, she won 2 international art awards: the Tribute to Tiziano in Venice and the Leonardo da Vinci in Florence.

In 2019 in the United States, she created a work in public (live painting) at the Spectrum Miami contemporary art fair. A week later, she won the public prize at the MIA-RUN art show organized by ARPAC in Reunion.

Sandrine Langlade now lives in The Hague (Holland) where her studio is located, which can be visited by appointment. She regularly exhibits in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

An intense, powerful, spiritual universe.

The pictorial style of S. Langlade is at the crossroads of lyrical abstraction and expressionism. She puts her mastery of colors at the service of contrast and light, in a unique, easily recognizable style. She works the material by mixtures and juxtapositions, creating asymmetrical compositions that find their balance in the play of opposing and complementary forces. The whole resonates with power.

Against a background of synaesthesia, the colors come to life. From each creation emerges a particular strength, which arises from the combination of violent tensions and a gentle harmony. The unity that reigns in each work is reinforced.

The artist draws her inspiration from her native island and everyday life, using her creativity to transcribe the emotions and sensations she experiences on a daily basis. The latter is challenged by constant learning (trials, errors, studies, sketches, etc.) and the question that is at the heart of his work: “how to restore what I live in a positively powerful, spiritual, impactful work of art? ".
