Nature scabre (2017) Sculpture by Salvatore Delogu

Nature rough rusty iron, the base cm 120x 15 (depth) The work is composed of ten elements of daily use (bottles, plates, glasses and books) placed side by side on a base placed on the wall, a long parallelepiped . The objects were made by hand working a rusty iron plate; the rusty metal allows for color variations ranging from dark brown to orange and dark red. The work is the product of an artistic reflection on the vision of still life in the contemporary world. Over the centuries, artists have devoted particular attention to the study of still lifes, but only from the seventeenth century has this "configured" as an autonomous genre. It is the process of a material research linked to the transience of nature and to life itself. The materials, colors and objects themselves want to interpret a vision of antiquity, an almost archaeological vision of art. They appear as everyday objects forgotten and torn by time. The term "rough", present in the title, derives from the Latin and means rusty and / or rough. Precisely to bring to mind a rough and harsh material, such as iron marked by time. Salvatore Delogu
