Salvatore Avallone is a passionate photographer. Drawing inspiration from nature and scenes of everyday life, we can also read the influence of Jacques Henri Lartigues, Edward Weston and Bill Brandt. He has met the Malagasy land, a world full of images and dreams, which he somehow tries to capture with his shots.
The human presence is almost a constant in his photos, like the author's signature at the end of a novel, like the human being as testimony to an encounter.
Salvatore Avallone was born in Italy. He lives and works in Madagascar. His work has been awarded numerous prizes such as the Ilford Paris, France Jury Prize in 2013 and his photos have been the subject of numerous publications in France and Switzerland (Corridor Éléphant, ZEITPUNKT, etc.).

Après les éditions précédentes consacrées à la vie quotidienne avec l’épi-bar en 2012, l’ombre et la lumière en 2013, l’image en 2014, les aloalo et traditions du sud en 2015, un hommage aux femmes malgaches en 2016 ou encore la déforestation en 2017, le thème de cette 7ème édition Madagasyart 2018 est dédié aux enfants de Madagascar, future génération du pays. A travers cette exposition nous souhaitons montrer au public français la difficulté des conditions de vie des enfants malgaches, tant du point de vue de l’éducation, que de la santé et de la malnutrition. Des conditions que ne connaissent pas la plupart des enfants occidentaux. Cependant l’exposition souhaite bien évidemment mettre en avant la joie de vivre de ces enfants, leur courage, leur solidarité et leur ingéniosité à faire fi de ces obstacles pour vivre et s’épanouir dans un environnement pas toujours favorable.
