Aspectus (2017) Painting by Salima Mékahli

I was lucky enough to grow up in an artistic environment that made me want to make it my career. During my adolescence, I took advantage of my school holidays to participate in the creation of murals, one of which adorns the arrivals hall of Le Mans station (72). After art training at the applied arts (Olivier de Serres) in Paris, I started my professional life as a textile designer. I created designs that were intended to be printed or woven, for couture (the Christian Dior house - Paris) or upholstery fabric houses (companies located in Belgium and Holland). After 10 years of fulfilling creative and artistic experience, I turned to the internet in the 2000s where I became a web designer. I have worked on the graphic design of many websites, since the profession has evolved towards applications for mobiles and tablets where graphics are always necessary. However, I needed to find a space of freedom to create differently and this is how I started painting in 2015. I am at the very beginning of a creative exploration...
