Crested Pigeons are delightful birds that correspond via wing flapping ,they sunbath with one wing in the air and show off with beautiful tail displays. This one was perched outside the kitchen window on the roof gutter watching inside for a possible food scrap. My son calls them punk birds as the doves and pigeons do not have crests in Africa, so these being similar to Cockatiels were a delight to first discover- thus I made the background slightly abstract like disco lights as I could just see them dancing away- indeed I have photographed them in very comical positions already, images I am sure to post in the future. In Canberra they are often seen on bare branches in winter to catch the last rays of sun their grey bodies blending in very well to the leafless trees but this image was taken in summer hence the green of the persimmon tree in the background. . Crested Pigeon is published in Art International Contemporary Magazine directed by Salvatore Russo issue #6 Nov/ Dec 2018 and is featured in the International Award CARAVAGGIO Great Master of Art 7th December 2018, Italy brochure.

Susan was born in Rhodesia, educated in South Africa at Groote Schuur Hospital where she worked for 20 years and now lives in Australia. Having rewritten her medical exams with Distinction in 2011 in Australia she was saddened when the cervical cancer Pap screening was deemed not cost effective in 2017 in Australia and palliative hospitals were built instead. It was then that she followed her second dream which had started in High School with the final art prize in 1985 and started her own art practice in Canberra. Susan is absolutely loving the art world now for she has discovered Art is the universal language that heals and connects people in this world. Susan still believes that prevention of cancer and early diagnosis is a worthwhile cause and is glad she was able to help others and glad that the Australian radiologists were spared the cost cuts of 2017 so they were able to help her live as well but she now welcomes you to share her journey forward in the Arts.
