Gang- gang Cockatoos are comical little birds with red tufts of feathers on their heads. The male has a has a particular expressive face, he is the Party boy of Cockatoo's and Canberra's emblem. The female Gang- gang Cockatoo can be viewed in this collection as well. My husband photographed this one as he was investigating a hollow in the botanical gardens, sadly the next time we visited the entire tree and hollow was gone which made this moment even more special for us. With this artwork I wanted to combine cubism, airbrush stencil and realistic texture techniques to create a one of a kind painting. This little Gang-gang features in my October 2019 Australian birds Art Gallery exhibit Canberra online, you can see a photograph of this cockatoo on our website under the Australian bird Photography heading.

Susan was born in Rhodesia, educated in South Africa at Groote Schuur Hospital where she worked for 20 years and now lives in Australia. Having rewritten her medical exams with Distinction in 2011 in Australia she was saddened when the cervical cancer Pap screening was deemed not cost effective in 2017 in Australia and palliative hospitals were built instead. It was then that she followed her second dream which had started in High School with the final art prize in 1985 and started her own art practice in Canberra. Susan is absolutely loving the art world now for she has discovered Art is the universal language that heals and connects people in this world. Susan still believes that prevention of cancer and early diagnosis is a worthwhile cause and is glad she was able to help others and glad that the Australian radiologists were spared the cost cuts of 2017 so they were able to help her live as well but she now welcomes you to share her journey forward in the Arts.
