In this series of artworks, I engage in a multifaceted painting of flowers. The flowers are a simple object for depiction, but this simplicity allows them to be in every epoch and "isms" of the world history of art.
As previously, I was working in abstract expressionism, therefore the manner of depicting and stylistic similarity of my flowers flows from there. Such form is natural for me, and it identifies my feelings about the world. It's necessary for me to experiment with a measure of abstractness and reality in paintings, with the combination of rough distinct brushstroke and light, translucent plane. One of the elements of my practice is the inversion of a picture; I often experiment with depicting the changes in one image depending on background tone differences and respectively, the tone and color of flowers. The titles of my paintings is understandable ( "Pink flower", "Yellow flower"), as I avoid additional emotional connotation, therefore I left them open for all viewers.

In this series of works, the main object is a continuous line, which imitates the freedom of movement like writing by the handle, as in Cy Twombly works. However, at the same time, the canvases' composition shows the composition's complexity and form balance concerning hierographic writing. These two references are not accidental, as they are the primary sources of inspiration for me. In this series, a coarse expressive line depicts different variability of a simple image of the heart. Reinforcing the expressive nature of the works allots a color to paintings - warm yellow and red colors.

Biography
Rosi Roys is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who has gained professional education in the Lviv National Academy of Arts in the specialty of monumental painting and continued her way as an abstract expressionist. Drawing inspiration from the art of hieroglyphs, Roys considers each movement in her work to be a mastery that has evolved over the years. Her body of work encompasses several series, predominantly characterized by monochromatic compositions. The limited color palette in each series carries its own symbolism, adding depth and nuance to the visual narrative.
The influence of both Eastern culture and Western experiences in abstract expressionism is palpable in Roys's art. This symbiotic blend is a logical outcome of her Ukrainian origin, a geographical and cultural crossroads that bridges the East and the West. Roys's artistic exploration becomes particularly significant when viewed in the context of Ukraine's historical and artistic landscape, marred by the totalitarian regime of the USSR.
