The Magic of Life is a piece representing the birth of mutant creatures and monkeys doing paradoxical things, where they also participate in giving lives to other mutant creatures. It’s a work where I give color to intuitive thought with freedom of forms, just like illogical events happen in our dream. Most of the time, the majority of these creatures are behaving in cooperation, for example, the pelican brought various fishes in its mouth so that they can be fed. It shows the magic of nature how it could prosper. The main character in the center, similar to a species of gazelle, holds an ankh, a symbol of life in ancient Egypt to represent the prosperity of life. Positive actions can always be observed. In general, I like to project this kind of positive message in my works.

Reydel Espinosa Fernandez is a Cuban surrealist painter. The remarkable influence on him, since the beginning of his surrealistic works is from the painter Bosch (1450-1516). His medieval dream metaphors, which were full of witches, alchemy, magic, bestiaries, thesaurus and hagiographies, converge in the artist's imaginary world. His most influential work on Fernandez was “The Garden of Earthly Delights”.

In Fernandez works animals are given life with virtues and intelligence to do impossible things. Often animals present a perfect synchronization between species in nature without human participation. It is a necessity for him as an artist to bring these images to light as it contributes to his spiritual fulfillment as an artist. Fernandez says that he is not only producing works with technical perfection but also with themes in inspiring the audiences to reflect on their own perspectives.

Reydel Espinosa Fernandez was born in 1985, in Cuba. He has exhibited his works in Cuba, Taiwan, USA, France, Turkey.
