Regolo Ricci was born in Italy, in 1955 and at an early age was moved to Canada. He is completely self-taught, having left the University of Toronto where he studied English Literature and the Classics.

He is best known for his work as a children's book illustrator and he was nominated for the Governor General's Award for Children’s’ Book Illustration in 2000. Working mainly in oils and watercolors, he is best known for his portrayals of the landscape of Southern Ontario. He began documenting the disappearing rural Ontario as far back as 1980 and still explores the villages and towns around the Metropolitan area. Along landscapes his other main interest is in still life.

He presently lives in Ontario, Canada.
