Great-Uncle Henry was the last baby boy born to Ignacio and Dolores Evaro Higuera. My memories of my Great-Uncle Henry was that he was always smiling and my Great-Aunt, she was the most beautiful woman with clear satin skin and black shiny hair. Their oldest daughter, Betty-Lou was our babysister many years while for my parents while we were small ones. As the years passed us by, more relatives were married, and more cousins were born into our large family and soon we would be such a large family that we wouldn't know if we were related to them unless we talked about family, honestly.
My Mom used to say when I was at high school,
"Remember to tell me who you are going to date, because he might be related!"
Well, guess what! I flirted with some guy at a store in Yuma who ended up being my second cousin! Boy, were we both embrarassed when we were introduced to each other! So, I married someone from New York! Amen!
