Patrice Gallard présente une vingtaine d’œuvres au bar de la visitation à Angers.
Droites et courbes rythment l'espace des toiles, de style résolument cubiste.

Avant de se lancer dans la peinture, Patrice Gallard a obtenu le diplôme de collaborateur d'architecte à l'école des beaux arts d'Angers. Guidé par une attirance de plus en plus forte pour la peinture et le graphisme, il décida de se consacrer à la peinture.
Depuis, il expose régulièrement ses œuvres dans la région et réalise également des commandes de peintures murales, parallèlement à sa démarche artistique personnelle.
Les tableaux qu'il présente ici sont tous de facture cubiste et, pour la plupart d'entre eux, de format carré,
Dans ses peintures, Patrice Gallard représente des droites, des courbes, des constructions géométriques où apparaissent parfois des objets reconnaissables : un violon, une bouteille ou une table.
Le dessin indique l'essentiel des formes, l'artiste rendant compte du sujet sous tous ses angles.
Goût du paradoxe
Comme dans la mouvance cubiste, Patrice Gallard affirme la planéité du support. La composition est empreinte de rigueur ; les lignes sont tracées d'une manière parfaite, chacune d'elle délimitant avec précision le contour des formes.
La précision du trait vient contraster avec l'aspect décentré de la composition.
Le regard du spectateur est attiré tantôt vers l'extérieur du tableau, tantôt vers des lignes qui semblent bouger et amènent une dynamique circulaire à l'intérieur du carré dans lequel l’œuvre s'inscrit.
Parfois, quelques écritures viennent orienter et définir la forme qui est suggérée, ramenant ainsi le spectateur à la réalité.
Le goût du paradoxe, voilà ce qui caractérise la peinture de Patrice Gallard qu'il définit lui même comme des « parcelles » ou des « fragments ». Parfois on devine un bout de ciel bleu. Alors une bouffée de liberté apparaît dans la toile qui nous dévoile, avec talent, la poésie de la peinture cubiste.
