Where are my Subjects?

Across the street from my Son's Home in Manhattan, Montana is a great dairy farm where when you whistle the young cows will line up at the fence in a Chorus Line. Also in Old Lyme, CT you can find the farm animals of Connecticut; some of these are hanging in the US Legislative Office Building Walls. Chickens come from Connecticut farms to Bozeman, Montana where Pam spends time painting and visiting with her Son's family, who also raise chickens and goats. Her sheep come from down the street from her Connecticut as well as her Bozeman home.

The Rivers of the Connecticut are ever present in her Landscapes. Hydrangeas grow on Essex's fences.

PAM CARLSON

Pam has been in the art world since before collage where she majored in fine art and education. She worked in commercial art prior to becoming an art teacher in various public school systems and is now a Board member of the Essex Art Association. Starting out in pottery, she got the 'art show bug' early on, exhibiting in town green art and craft shows up and down the east coast. Now she concentrates on painting with her subjects from American farms that include her barnyard friends as well as her recent landscapes in oil of the surrounding farm and riverfront countryside.

Five of her barnyard paintings hang in the Congressional Offices in Washington, DC representing Connecticut's local farm based heritage. Her work has also appeared in galleries at The Old Lyme Art Assoc., Essex Art Assoc., The Garvin Studio, Chester Co-op, The Art Trail, Slater Memorial Museum, Mystic Art Association and in the Three Rivers Art Show, Pittsburg, Pa. including Gallery West and the Emerson Arts Center in Bozeman, Mt. Her barnyard subjects are on the farms and back yards from Montana to Connecticut.

After raising her family in Old Lyme, Pam now resides in Essex, Connecticut where the only chickens in her yard are on canvas, but travels to Montana where her son and his wife and children's backyard is also surrounded by cows, chickens, sheep, goats and ducks.
