Nikko Kali’s recent works are recognizable right away by their poetic light, their suggestive strength and force of character, their signs’ and tracing harmony, their obvious evidence and their very etherean emotions.
Nikko Kali, plasticien artist, seems to have stepped into a very personal manner of telling what cannot be described. It is his approaching way of the constrcution of a painting which bears in us, the spectators, many thoughts full of emotions which do not dammage the aesthetical point of view. Nikko Kali’s works gather a multiple of iconographic sensations. It is a field of many sortes of growing paths as well as a rush of colors where the hues, despite the conventions, are nourished joyfully by the light of another color as well as by the darkness of some other one. His light lives in many ways and it disguises itself in many other outlines. It is as a sort of subterranean movement. It surfaces from time to time only to disappear then. It is like a caressing line on an imaginary body, following its contours without revealing its volume. Brightly, the light follows a very well defined color path which tends to join other family hues only to become fragil and very precious.
A Nikko Kali’s canvas is to be seen as a “whole”. One unit which on the very moment of its birth, takes ineluctably over the spectator’s sensitivity bringing him peace.
To Nikko Kali, painting is a total and very present and real phenomenon. It is a very enthousiastic and spontaneous way to communicate the essential. It is the place where the spiritual intimacy is neither apprehended nor avoided. This means mainly thinking and laughing loud, building and suggesting things, telling the undescriptable as well as talking about a dream that can hurt as well as it can heal and caress. That is what is moving and intriguing too.
Nikko Kali’s canvases further reveal, as bizarre as it may seem, the analysis and interpretation of a very sensual world. A canvas may be of a red and yellow explosion as well of what is in the deepest: the incadescent light, whereas another color may reflect the elusive rythme of an espontaneous thought.
The remarkable thing in Nikko Kali’s canvas is that when one looks at them, one is slowly but irresistibly drawn into a world which seems familiar but which really is another world holding, feeling and unveiling the many forms of an emotion.
His canvases flittingly move in a morning's uncertainty. They catch the warmth of a finished and well accomplished day. They caress the warm melancholy of an ending day. They tell what one knows but one is unable to hold or to say.
