Back in the year 2000 I made a trip to the Sahara Desert to spend my 28th Birthday Among the blue men of the desert and the endless Sand Dunes.

It was a dream come true. The Idea of the desert haunted me since childhood and I really wanted to see it for myself; that awesome presence and power.

Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. It was and still is, everything and more
I expected it to be. The best word to Describe it... is… Magical.

While I was among those Sands, the story of the little prince came back to mind, The Shepard Santiago and the Alchemist, as did the story of Jesus, Ali Baba & the 40 thieves, the King Solomon's mines, even Star Wars and Dune came back to me.

Yes, I was at the place that inspired many men and stories…

I went there to make a special wish or better put, a prayer on my birthday. It was a time of great turmoil for me and I was feeling very lost .

I needed to find my place in this world,
I just New that I needed to go really far to see things in a different perspective. I was not wrong.

That wish has come true and since then, it has been a long beautiful journey on the discovery of who I am…

The thing that marked me the most about that trip, wasn’t Just the greatness of the Desert with it’s endless Dunes, the heat or cold…

It wasn’t Just the kindness of the Blue people of the desert either…

It was the beautiful silence and peace that came with it…
Interrupted at one point in the night with out any notice by…

As I left, I also left a little part of my Soul there forever, so I always Know how to return there if I want to.

Ric Nagualero has been immersed in art for most of his life. A native of Portugal, at the age of two he moved to South America (Brazil) with his parents. There he resided for the next 15 years, absorbing the exotic surroundings of the land and it’s people, a multiracial culture with its rich traditions and customs.

Returning to Europe in 1989, he attended High School in Cascais – Portugal in the Arts Area. Pursuing further education, he moved to Swansea, Wales (UK) in 1992, were part of his family is from. There he attended College at Swansea’s Institute of Higher Education, ( University of Wales ) specializing in Illustration and Fine Arts.

In 1998, he starts a Painting apprenticeship with German/English Painter Thomas Bund at his Sintra Studio. A friendship and working relation that lasts to date.

Through out the years nagualero has steadily produced art, having exhibited his work and being collected across the World.
