Le physalis nous vient du Pérou. Il fournit de petits fruits en cage, d'où son autre nom "l’amour en cage", rappelant le goût de la groseille à maquereau, en plus acidulé. Avec un pied, vous pourrez faire de petites récoltes pour décorer les gâteaux ou accompagner un plat. Avec 4 à 6 pieds, vous aurez suffisamment de fruits pour faire des gelées et confitures.
Plantez le physalis dans un endroit chaud du jardin. Ameublissez le sol en surface, à la bêche. Sortez la motte de son pot, défaites le chignon de racines au besoin. Creusez un trou, déposez-y la motte, refermez puis arrosez. Prévoyez un tuteur, où vous accrocherez les tiges quand la plante aura grandi.
Récoltez les premiers fruits dès la fin de l’été si la saison a été suffisamment chaude, sinon attendez les mois de septembre-octobre
