Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. It could also refer to a prototype or a model from which other works can be made. Each work bears great similarities to the original.

Miguel Esquivel Kuello

Miguel Esquivel Kuello is an visual artist and musician, born in Colombia. He lives and works in Paris.

His personal research embraces art in its various manifestations: painting, drawing and engraving, but also photography, video art and music. He started his artistic training in Bogota, where he graduated in fine arts at Universidad de la Sabana (1996), while studying cinematography at ACOPROCINE School and at the Museum of Modern Art, and practicing music with the Orquesta Cinfonica Juvenil de Bogota. In Paris he improved the ingraving technique at the Atelier CONTRAPOINT and obtained a M.A. degree in Esthetics and art History at Université Paris 8.

Time and dimension, atmosphere and chiaroscuro, journal paper and collage, eroticism and lace, unconsciousness and emotion… these are the ideas and concepts playing and fighting to finally get together.
