I was born in 1964 in Akersloot, The Netherlands. I have lived and worked in Nuremberg since 1984. Before I could write I looked at books, I was fascinated by the smell, the mystery of the printed letters, the drawings and how it felt. Like any child, I started painting when I could use pencils and discovered my passion for life. I've remained a bookworm, but my great love is taking pictures. My favorite technique is linocut. Most of my work is created using this technique. The limited-edition prints are hand-colored, so each individual image is unique. My pictures do not want to teach or shock, but only please the eye and the heart.

Linocut and linoprint

I discovered this technique in 1986 when I was doing an internship in Heinz Thurn's printing workshop in Nuremberg. With a few exceptions, all my pictures are based on the linocut technique. The process to the finished picture is a wonderful creative journey for me, on which I can live and combine my passions. The idea, the study and the selection of the motif, the sketch, the transfer and the carving work on the lino, the color design and finally the coloring with gouache and colored pencils. I love every step of the work and the large part of manual work, I also see myself as a craftswoman! It's a slow journey, all work takes its time and its breaks, I find myself in a natural work rhythm that I'm in tune with and comfortable with. My pictures are the result of my positive energy, they should not shock or teach, they should be clear in their presentation and statement, make you happy and maybe stimulate thought.
