Hi, my name is Elisa and I'm from Portugal!
As a woman of convictions with a academic and artistic background I always struggled to turn my passion for art into my daily life.
I always admired crochet works and it made me feel sad to realize that many people that inherit them from their passed away relatives, just hide and forget about them in the dephts of some drawer. This is the reason I started this project.
Memória Viva are the portuguese words for living memory.
My main inspiration is the concept of the Mexican Day of the Dead that celebrates past lifes with colour and joy.
That is what I try to do with my creations, celebrate and honor the many hours of work and love that someone dedicated to the doilies I reuse in my pieces.
Through a entirely handstiched work I give them a new life within a more contemporary view.
