The Lotus Flower has been used as a sacred symbol by many cultures for centuries. In ancient Egypt, it was the symbol of the sun, of creation, and of re-birth. Buddhism has used it as a symbol of enlightenment, faithfulness and purity. In Hinduism this beautiful flower is considered to be the symbol of beauty, prosperity, fertility, purity, eternity and divinity.
The Mandala has been used by many world cultures for centuries as a tool for prayer, meditation, contemplation, focus and as adornment for temples and sacred places. Some examples are Buddhist Sand Paintings, Navajo sand paintings, medicine wheels, and rose windows located in various churches.
The Lotus Flower Mandalas incorporates both of these symbols into intricate, one-of-a-kind compositions.
Each Mandala creation is a hand-painted original design done specifically for the client.
Comes in various square sizes. The canvas is either stretched over a wood frame or
unframed so you can choose the method of display. Photos are examples only .... all of these pieces have been sold.

Biography
Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada, throughout life, Kim has tapped into Artistic Creativity using a variety of mediums her entire life. Her gift in painting and drawing Lotus Flower Mandalas is a natural one that is expressed from her heart and soul.
Kim has sold commissioned pieces of visual art to clients across Canada, the United States of America, England, Scotland, Mexico, South Africa and Australia. Her primary mediums are acrylic on canvas and ink on paper. Many clients have expressed that somehow Kim "is capable of 'intuitively knowing' what to paint for them .... it's like she paints their 'heart and spirit' in a Lotus Flower Mandala."
In 2008 she completed a series of Lotus Flower Mandalas on the walls of Sugar Ridge Retreat.
HeartSongs is born out of the passions that keep creativity alive. Kim loves to share her creations with others, hoping that each one brings a joyful expression of happiness to someone's life.

Visual Art that Speaks to the Heart and Spirit

Life is Birthed from a Blank Canvas
What is an artist's heartfelt joy? Sitting in front of a blank canvas knowing that the process of birthing a new creation is manifesting.
What is an artist's passion? Seeing that new creation, step by step, coming together. Then finally with the last brush stroke, the composition comes to life.
What is an artist's bliss? Witnessing the joy that their work brings to other people, touching their hearts and caressing the deep recesses of their soul.
The primary medium that Kim uses is Acrylic on Canvas. The acrylic paints are perfect for the Lotus Flower Mandalas ..... with vibrant colours to choose from, easy clean up and no overpowering smells.
Before Kim begins, she sits in silence, gazing at the canvas, asking for guidance on what is meant to be painted. She then finds the centre of the canvas and begins to draw consecutive circles which will be filled in with lightly penciled guidelines. All the designs are hand-done and often change as the compostion develops. Various brush sizes are used to fill in and decorate the designs. It's always a pleasant surprise to see the finished piece emerge.
