Martin Sieverding
‘My paintings are created in a process of construction and destruction.
They reflect internal and external processes in a multilayered manner.’
Sieverding’s painting is abstract and mirrors his observations of the outer world as well as expressing inner processes. Made of many layers and resulting from an ongoing procedure of creation and destruction, his works are like visual resonance bodies that express interior impulses just as much as memories, maybe the sensation of wind on the skin, the pounding of the ocean, the yearning of the soul for stillness.

Martin Sieverding is a contemporary German artist. Sieverding's art incorporates a wide range of techniques and materials. Weathering and decay processes are of special fascination to him, and he meticulously photographs structures and colors.
In his painting, he creates virtually archeological images from several overlapping layers that are waiting to be uncovered beneath the surface in the spirit of lyrical abstraction. Works with strong reliefs are made in a continual process of creation and destruction using a wide variety of materials. In various ways, all of the works represent both internal and external processes, as well as themes like beauty and transience.
Martin Sieverding was born in 1961, in Germany.
