Maria Angelica Viso

Maria Angelica Viso is a contemporary Venezuelan sculptor. Although she initially developed her artistic work in oil painting, she has been making sculptural works for several years.

The artist describes that the purpose of her work is to demonstrate a balanced relationship between the shape, color, matter and space. Relying on the benefits of metal, and using mostly curved lines, she relieves the rigid moments of geometry and finds a way to represent the subtleties and behaviors of flexible materials such as paper, in the severity of metal, in such a way that she finds a rhythm in shapes and in colors.

Maria Angelica Viso was born in 1971, in Caracas, Venezuela. She was exhibited in Spain, France, Venezuela, Italy, United States, Canada and won several awards for her work: 2015 Arts Advocacy Award granted by TheWIFTS, Los Angeles, California, United States; 1987 Second place XVII Annual Exhibition of Painting Maraven with the work Islas Griegas, Caracas, Venezuela; 1982 First place in the Playa Azul Club Art Contest with the work “El Patio en Sevilla”, Naiguatá, Venezuela.
