I could say it was the idea that, often in order to start again, one has to destroy what has been. Go back to ground zero in order to freely start over. I could say that, truly, I did no destruction, but a reverse sculptural process. Reverse in the sense that it ended the absence of form… I could say that I did no destruction because to destroy is to make disappear, and I searched for new forms that seemed to be more interesting before the nothingness. I could say that I truly did no destruction because the object that ceased to exist gave place to a photographic record. I could try and say more about motivated this series, but it is probably more genuine to say that I simply enjoy to destroy.

Filipe Condado is a Portuguese digital artist and photographer who lives and works in Lisbon. His work focuses on photos of the destruction of objects, step by step, in order to bring together the different phases of destruction in a single photographic work.

His images are captivating, as they show a process of transformation and permanent change, which reveals the beauty in destruction. Each stage of destruction is captured with precision and creativity, revealing unexpected shapes and textures that are both beautiful and poignant.

Condado has created a unique artistic universe, which shows beauty in the act of destruction and thus transforms our perception of the ephemeral. His works are an invitation to see destruction as a form of creation, and to appreciate the beauty that can be found in the processes of transformation.
