Hi, I am Mahfuzur Rahman based in Dhaka, Bangladesh

I think of my installations as unfinished inventories of fragments: objects, drawings, paintings, photographs, and other inventions.  They are improvisational sites in which the constructed and the readymade are used to question our making of the world through language and knowledge.  My arrangements are schematic, inviting the viewer to move into a space of speculation.  I rely on our desires for beauty, poetics and seduction.

Painting is a reality, among realities, which has been felt and formed.

Despite being a full-time corporate this is the pleasure I receive from creating art that inspires me as an artist. I produce art to express an image of impressionism form but with my own artistic style. In each work of art, my intent is to depict compositions with lifelike details and qualities.

Over the previous few years, my artwork has changed immensely while still showing a hint this is uniquely my very own. I come to the canvas free of preconceptions and open to possibilities. There is a form of flow that transpires in which my inner phrenic conceptions and feelings pour out through my brushes. While I am into a new canvas, it feels as if I am on a constant quest for discovery and knowledge and clarity and insight into perception – thought, dreams, emotion, habits, mediocrity, and brilliance. For a long time now, I have found myself committed to illuminated landscapes. There is an eternal romance between light and colour that bathes the landscapes, where the magic of the rays of light that affect the surfaces and explode in colours and textures that give life to the space. I began my artistic journey to explores the beautiful aspects of nature and focus on what lies between them. I consider my work to be a dialogue, a spiritual expression in which the physical and psychological properties affect the viewer.

There were a lot of emotional events in my life that led me to hold onto my passion more and more every day. The clarity and the journey of a particular painting make my existence worthwhile. When I paint, I feel weaves of emotions hitting my soul constantly. Complete work of art gives me a height of pleasure because not only it is a painting but also conveys significant philosophy. The hues and textures of my palette are an integral part of my piece of art, this is where I search for deeper understanding in its purest form, a passionate effort to discover the essence of life. I have always concentrated on the subject as the focal point with a limited background.

The size of the canvas has a great impact on the artist and the spectators as well. Because it is necessary to accommodate the viewers to enter the picture and move around in it; to be surrounded by colour so that you can taste, feel and smell it; to hear your own messages and relive your own feelings.
